Older Americans Month Proclamations
Each May, Ohio joins the nation in observing Older Americans Month. Ohio currently has the sixth largest older adult population in the nation. Today, about one in five Ohioans is age 60 or older. By 2040, the Scripps Gerontology Center at Miami University predicts that nearly one in three Ohioans will be age 60-plus. This year’s theme for Older Americans Month is “Engage at Every Age” to emphasize the importance of being active and involved, no matter where or when you are in life. The Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) joins the Ohio Department of Aging, local providers and senior centers, and other important partners in the aging network in recognizing older adults and the people who serve and support them.
In observance of Older Americans Month, representatives from the AAA7 and local County Senior Centers met with County Commissioners throughout the ten counties in the AAA7's district. County Commissioners signed a proclamation for Older Americans Month to mark this observation.
Below are links for each county with a picture from the proclamation signing.
